...the Algorithmix Red and
Orange LinearPhase Equalizersare must haves.

I have spent most of my time with
the red version of the LinearPhase PEQ and can honestly say that it
is the best sounding software EQ that I have ever heard!

I am putting the new Red vari-slope
low and high shelves through their paces on the new Chaka Kahn CD. The
depth and punch of the lows and the air and silkiness of the highs are
by far the best by far in my experience. A new benchmark.

The new Chaka Khan CD was mastered
here using the new Red CS low and high shelves as the exclusive EQ for
the bass and treble. This has now become my default high and low EQ.
Chaka said the CD sounded incredible and her producer said the lows
and highs were "amazing."

The LinearPhase PEQ Red and Orange
are absolutely the best by far. I compared them to the Waves Masters
Linear Phase EQ, and while the Waves Masters Linear EQ did an okay job,
there was still some coloration and sound character variations involved
on some of the other instruments in the stereo mix with the Waves Linear
EQ, but with the PEQ Red I am able to focus in on a particular instrument
in a stereo mix and make it sound the way I want it to sound, and without
even the slightest change in the sound or character on any of the other
instruments in the stereo mix. I find the PEQ Red to be extremely useful
for me personally on jazz drum tracks where I most always mic with a
pair of overhead omni's only, which is the best way to mic drums for
jazz. As good as this mic'ing technique is for great sounding jazz drums,
quite often I would like to be able to bring out more stick definition
on the ride cymbals without having to resort to using nylon tip drum
sticks. I much prefer the sound of 100% wooden sticks. I have never
been able to do this without having a negative effect on the sound of
the snare drum, plus all of the other eq's that I have tried on jazz
drum tracks also change the character of sound and pitch of the ride
cymbals while trying to bring out more stick definition. While being
able to bring out more stick definition with all of these other EQ's,
there is always the major sacrifice of changing the character of sound
and pitch of my beautiful Zildjian Constantinople cymbals. With the
PEQ Red I am able to bring out a great deal of more stick definition,
and much to my surprise there is no added coloration nor change in the
sound or pitch of the ride cymbals, nor is there any change in the sound
of the snare drum, toms, or kick drum, nor any of the other components
in the drum set as well. Much to my delight I am simply able to provide
more stick definition to my ride cymbals, period. I am extremely impressed!

I must tell you that I am absolutely
ecstatic with the results that I have been achieving with the linear
phase EQ’s. Mastering is a very delicate process where the mastering
engineer faces the challenge of compromising in order to achieve the
best balance between the original recording and the mastered version.
Both Red and Orange EQ’s have absolutely replaced every other EQ that
I own and have given me the ability and freedom to perform challenging
frequency adjustment tasks in every project that I master no matter
how challenging or what genre it is. They are extremely transparent
and musical enabling me to deliver excellent results in the most demanding
projects including High Resolution ones. Their ability to resolve with
accuracy, clarity and musicality, frequency ranges in complex music
passages is astonishing, allowing the mastering engineer to focus on
the project and forget the artefacts that are usually associated with
this kind of processors. Their performance in Sequoia V8.1 in complex
projects and in different sections of the program (object, track, master
section) is remarkable.
...The Algorithmix PEQ red/orange
plugins totally rock and either equal or surpass many top hardware units.
Those plugins will take you all the way there, my friend. My Massive
Passive has been sitting on the sidelines as 2nd string since getting
the PEQs. It loses every time when I compare it to the PEQs on the same
material. Plus, they are an incredible bargain since the number you
use is only limited by you machine's horsepower.
